Identity Design

Identity is the thread through everything we design: clear in voice, distinct in character and consistent wherever it appears
Many of the businesses we work with do work of real quality, run a space worth visiting or make products with care, yet the way they present themselves doesn’t reflect it. Sometimes the identity was never designed. Sometimes it suited the business a few years ago, but no longer reflects who it is today.

We shape identities around what makes each business distinct: its audience, its voice, its colour, type and imagery. It weaves through everything else we design, from the interior of a space to the website that introduces it.
Stages
+
Introductory Call (01)
A first conversation about your business, how it’s seen today and how you’d like it to be seen. We’ll talk through what’s working, what no longer fits and whether we’re the right studio to help.
+
Discovery & Brief (02)
We look closely at your business, your audience and what sets you apart, along with the businesses around you. The result is a clear brief for what the identity needs to say, and who it needs to say it to.
+
Initial Ideas & Designs  (03)
We develop initial directions covering tone of voice, messaging, colour, typography and, where included, a wordmark. Each is shown in use, so you can judge how it looks and reads in context.
+
Assets & Guidelines (04)
The chosen direction is refined and set out in full guidelines: fonts, colour values, tone of voice, example statements and sample imagery. Anyone working with your business can then apply it consistently.
+
Visual Imagery (05)
We help build the visual library that carries your identity, by refining images you already have, sourcing imagery that suits it or creating new images with AI. Where it helps, we also shoot photography, video and drone footage.

Approach
Good identities are rarely loud. They’re consistent, so that a business looks, sounds and feels the same whether you meet it online, in print or through its doors.

That consistency starts with understanding: the audience, the qualities that set a business apart and the tone that suits it. Only then do we set the colour, type and imagery, each chosen to support the same idea.

Frequently ASKED qUESTIONS
An identity touches everything a business does, so it’s natural to have questions before starting: what’s included, how it relates to a website, and whether you need a full identity or just a refresh. These are the ones we’re asked most often.

If yours isn’t here, just ask. A short conversation is usually the quickest way to find out what your identity needs, and whether we’re the right fit for it.
+
Do I need a full identity, or just a refresh?
It depends on how well your current identity fits. Sometimes refining the fonts and colours is enough. Other times the business has changed, and the identity needs rebuilding from its audience and messaging up. We’ll recommend which after the introductory call.
+
We’re a new business. Is it too early for an identity?
No. Starting with a clear identity means everything that follows, from your website to your first conversations with clients, is built on the right foundation, rather than reworked later.
+
Can the identity carry through to our physical space?
Yes. Because we also design interiors and architecture, the identity can inform the colour, materials and tone of a space as well as its presence online.
+
What will I receive?
A full set of identity guidelines covering your fonts, colours, tone of voice, example statements and sample imagery, along with a clearer understanding of your audience and what sets you apart.
+
Can you work with images we already have?
Yes. We’ll review what you have and refine the strongest images. Where there are gaps, we can source suitable imagery or create new images to match your identity.
+
Do you design logos?
Occasionally, and usually as a wordmark rather than a symbol. Our focus is on the parts of an identity that shape how a business is understood day to day: its voice, messaging, colour, type and imagery. If you already have a logo you’re happy with, we’ll build the identity around it.
+
Do you offer photography and video?
Yes. We offer photography, videography and drone footage, so your imagery is made to suit your identity from the start.
+
How long does it take, and how much does it cost?
Most identity projects start from £2,000 and take one to three months, depending on the scope. Many form part of a wider project, such as a new website, and are planned and priced together.
